ルーツとアイデンティティ

岡山出身、広島にルーツを持つアーティスト兼デザイナー。デンマークと東京の２拠点で25年間活動後、広島に拠点を移し、海が見えるアートとデザインの會社[ art seeds studio ] を主宰。

岡山で過ごした子ども時代

瀬戸内海の自然に囲まれ、10代はバドミントンに情熱を注ぎインターハイに出場しました。画家の祖父、仏師の曾祖父、茶人の祖母の影響で今でも毎日抹茶を点てています。また、80年代にはファッション誌『an・an』を愛読し、次第にアートやデザイン、そして海外への興味が芽生えていきました。

デンマークと東京での学び

大阪の外国語大学在学中に絵を描き始め、卒業後デンマークへアート留学。その２年後のコペンハーゲンでの個展が好評で、アーティストとして本格的な活動を開始。その後、東京でグラフィックデザインや日本画を学び、国内外で個展を開催。童話作家アンデルセンの「旅することは生きること」という詩に共鳴しながら、約20カ国を旅しました。30代後半には難病が発症し心と体と向き合うことが増えたことで、花をテーマに描くことに夢中になり自ら心身の癒しを体験しました。次第に花や植物には国境がないと感じ、「地球人である私」というアイデンティティがひとつ増えました。

海の見えるスタジオ「art seeds studio」

2020年、広島に「art seeds studio」を設立。グラフィックデザイナー松井桂三氏と共に、国内外のアート・デザインプロジェクトに関わりながら、地域に根ざしたプロジェクトや洋菓子パッケージデザイン、広島市主催「ひろしまカフェ」など、多くのアート・デザインプロジェクトに参加しています。また、京都dddギャラリー主催（公益財団法人DNP文化振興財団）の展覧会「立平面社〜手と脳のあそびの不思議」では実験的な作品を発表し、多くの方にご覧いただけたことは大きな喜びです。

これまでの活動と代表作と展望

個展はデンマーク、ドイツ、香港、東京、岡山、広島、大阪などで開催。代表作には「Vision of the Sea（海の幻影）」「Fly + See Simon!（飛んでみてミテ！シモン）」「Points（テン〜イトシクかけがえのないもの）」「Flora Japonica（日本の花々）」「Flowers and H.C. Andersen（花とアンデルセン）」「Reborn（リボーン）」があります。作品は、自然、旅、アンデルセン童話、日本と北欧の文化、内なるビジョンからインスピレーションを得ています。

日本とデンマーク、また世界の多様なアートやデザインや文化を見てきて、自分の中に内包する「日本的なもの」を幾度ともなく見つめてきました。自身のナショナリティの上に立ち、国境を越えた表現を望んでいます。

Roots and Identity

An artist and designer born in Okayama with roots in Hiroshima, she spent 25 years working in both Denmark and Tokyo before relocating to Hiroshima, where she now runs "art seeds studio," an art and design company overlooking the sea.

Childhood in Okayama

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Seto Inland Sea, she spent her teenage years passionately playing badminton, even competing in the national high school tournament. Influenced by her painter grandfather, her Buddhist sculptor great-grandfather, and her grandmother, a tea ceremony enthusiast, she practices the art of matcha every day. During the 1980s, she was an avid reader of the fashion magazine an an, which gradually sparked her interest in art, design, and the world beyond Japan.

Learning in Denmark and Tokyo

While studying at a foreign language university in Osaka, she began painting, and after graduation, she studied art in Denmark. Two years later, her solo exhibition in Copenhagen was well received, marking the beginning of her full-fledged career as an artist. Following this, she pursued studies in graphic design and Japanese painting in Tokyo, holding solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. Inspired by fairy tale writer Hans Christian Andersen’s poem, "To travel is to live," she  journeyed through about 20 countries. In her late thirties, she was diagnosed with a rare disease, prompting deeper reflection on mind and body. This led her to immerse herself in painting flowers, experiencing healing through her work. Gradually, she felt that flowers and plants know no borders, and embraced an additional identity: "I am a citizen of the Earth."

Establishing “art seeds studio” in Hiroshima

In 2020, she established “art seeds studio” in Hiroshima. Collaborating with graphic designer Keizo Matsui, she participates in various local and international art and design projects, including community-based projects, confectionery packaging designs, and the Hiroshima City-hosted "Hiroshima Café." She was also thrilled to showcase experimental pieces at the Kyoto ddd Gallery’s (DNP) exhibition "RITSUHEIMEN — The Wonder of Playing with Hands and Brains."

Activities, Notable Works, and Future Outlook

She has held solo exhibitions in Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Okayama, Hiroshima, and Osaka. Her major works include Vision of the Sea, Fly + See Simon!, Points, Flora Japonica, Flowers and H.C. Andersen, and Reborn. Her art draws inspiration from nature, travel, Andersen's fairy tales, Japanese and Nordic cultures, and inner visions.

Having experienced diverse art, design, and culture in Japan, Denmark, and beyond, she has often looked inward to understand the Japanese essence within herself. Standing on her national identity, she aspires to create expressions that transcend borders.
